Fostering A Strong Islamic Identity In Your Student

PK-2nd Grade Islamic Academy in Morrisville, NC

Message from the Page Road Committee Chair and IAR Vice Chair

Dear Creative Scholars Academy Prospective Parents, Assalamoalikum.

On behalf of the Islamic Association of Raleigh (IAR) Page Road Committee and the Creative Scholars Academy (CSA) Team, I would like to inform you that due to certain unavoidable circumstances we have made the difficult decision to defer the opening of CSA at IAR Page Road until the Fall of 2025. I realize this is very disappointing and hard to all the parents who have signed up and were committed to have your children attend the new IAR Islamic School at Page Road. I appreciate that the decision of not opening CSA this year (August 2024) can cause hardship for you all to make alternate plans for your children to register and start school in this academic/school year. The CSA Team had promised to establish a state-of-the art school at the Page Road site to offer education and learning opportunities of the highest quality to our students; however, due the delay in getting the Page Road Building available despite our best efforts, has now made it not possible to deliver on the product we promised you all, hence the difficult decision to defer the school opening by a year. All the money you have paid to the CSA including the registration fee will be refunded in full to you.

I would like to emphasize that the delay in getting the Page Road site building open for this school year is beyond our control due to the time taken by the Durham County in getting the sewer connection for our site and installation of Water Meter by the City of Durham which are prerequisites for securing a Certificate of Occupancy for the building to open. As some of you are aware, the CSA Team explored the option of starting the school at an alternate site for the first semester. We selected Cary Masjid to be the alternate site as Cary Masjid Leadership had graciously agreed to host CSA; however, as we explored this option further it was realized that the alternate location posed several logistic challenges/problems like hardship for many of the parents in terms of commute distance plus the delay to register the new school with the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education leading to miss the application deadline for the Opportunity Scholarship which several of you were relying on.

The CSA Team has taken all the necessary steps to initiate the school in August 2024, such as hiring teachers and staff, meeting with parents, finding an alternative location for the first semester but currently we have around 43 students registered and with the selection of an alternate site and not able to secure the Opportunity Scholarship, only 7 parent have signed the contract with CSA by the deadline of June 1, hence giving us more reason to pause and re-evaluate the decision of opening the school as initially planned.

In conclusion, as the IAR Page Road Committee Chair and Leader of the CSA Team, I regret to share this difficult decision with you and sincerely apologize for the hardship and inconvenience this decision has caused you all. I hope and pray to Allah SWT that He remove this hardship from you all and you are able to find alternate schooling arrangements for your children who were registered at the CSA. We are optimistic that by the will of Allah SWT we will have the new school start at Page Road in the Fall of 2025 and will have you all register your children with us, insha’Allah.

I thank you for your understanding and request to make duwa for all of us. Jaza-Kalla-o-Khairan On behalf of Page Road Committee and Creative Scholars Team,

Munir Abdullah, Ph.D.

Page Road Committee Chair and IAR Vice Chair
